CSA Box #3

Alert: There are no precious photos of kitties digging through produce here this week. (But if you need your fill, see here, here, here, and here.)

This week, our bounty included three colors of Swiss chard (brilliant yellow, purple, and spring green), cilantro, lettuce, a sizeable head of kohlrabi, garlic scrapes, and broccoli.

The broccoli last week (as well as kohlrabi) was awesome in my first ever Thai stir-fry, so that bodes well for this week’s box.

I’m also pretty pumped to try Swiss chard again for the first time (yes, I think I’m clever, but you don’t have to). I bought it a couple of years ago when I first moved to Uptown, just down the street from The Wedge. In an attempt to branch out and eat healthier, I grabbed a bundle of it, took it home, sauteed it up in I-don’t-know-what, and just about gagged when I finally put it in my mouth. It was sad and I haven’t had it since. But I’m determined to like it this time around. I know I say it repeatedly, but it’s just so pretty! Darn you, Nature, for tempting me with your, ahem, natural beauty.
